Mixed Fortune In Robin Savage Challenge
Shield
Since the last edition of Batchat we have played
twice against Barming for Robin Savage
Challenge Shield. We won last year at our
Howard Table Tennis Centre Venue, but our
opponents gained sweet revenge this September
with a 23-17 victory at Beechwood Community
Centre. We look forward to continuing our rivalry
back at home next year.

Hoping For A Good Return
From Coaching Day
We invited professional coach Craig Bryant to deliver two fantastic
training days over the past year. Following on from the service coaching
day last year, Craig recently helped club members improve their return
of serves. With his knowledge and guidance many of us will be better
players as a result of these sessions.

Girls Runners Up In
National Schools Final
‘About 5 years ago, I was approached by The Pilgrim School
at the Medway Mini Youth games with a view to going along
to one of their afterschool table tennis club sessions to have a
look at their players. As a result of this visit, I agreed to
become the coach of their Mini Youth games team and also
attend the weekly afterschool club sessions. I was introduced
to a group of highly talented young girls and I became their
coach. I have since been on an incredible journey with these
4 girls: Katie, Scarlett, Lily and Stephanie and I have taken
them all over the country competing in the National Schools
Competitions at under 11 and under 13 age groups and the
girls have achieved tremendous success winning the National
under 11 title and being the runners up in the under 13
competition. This year they will compete in the National
under 16 competition wherein I expect them to do very well.
The girls are now also members of Chatham Table Tennis
Club and will make their debut in the Medway Towns adult
league this coming season.
The girls have all made remarkable progress and continue to
do so. Their parents and their school have been very
supportive of me and the girls. It is a privilege to be
associated with the girls and who knows what the future has
in store for them. Our club is extremely proud of them.’

Huge Success with Medway
Junior Development League
Twenty juniors representing nine teams enjoyed the newly formed
Development League run by members of our club. Matches each
week were very competitive with many parents and supporters
cheering on the players. The team emerging victorious were
‘Glosrose’ consisting of Jack Jordan and Lennon MacLorg.
Finishing in second were ‘Smashed It’ with Liam Coake and Jude
Clarke just missing out on the top spot. However, every player in the
league made meaningful progress during the two month season. The
second season commences in March and promises to be just as
exciting as the first.
In addition, on November 7th, 24 players battled for the Medway
Junior Development singles title, with Lennon MacLorg beating
Jack Jordan in the main final. On his path to victory, Lennon
defeated Liam Coake in the first semi-finals and Jack just beat Katie
in the second. In the consolation final, Jude Clake narrowly beat
Scarlett Lennon.
