Richard J. Torraco is associate professor in the Department of Educational Administration at the University of
Nebraska–Lincoln. He serves as a faculty member in the educational leadership and community college leadership
programs and conducts research and teaching in workforce and human resource development, and in community
college leadership. He has served as editor of Human Resource Development Review (2005-2008) and as the Vice
President for Research for the Academy of Human Resource Development. Dr. Torraco teaches graduate courses
at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, both classroom and internet-based, in foundations of human resource
development, organization development and change, workforce development, and administrative, organization
and management theory. He has managed workplace health and safety programs and has served as a workforce
development consultant to industry, business, and higher education for over twenty-five years.
