BSN Admission Requirements
Effective: Catalog Year 2020/2021 to Present
Program Policy
Students must maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative and prerequisite GPA to be eligible for the nursing track.
Non-Fresno State (transfer) students must directly apply to the Fresno State BSN program as a nursing major (Fall Only)
Continuing students must be declared as “Pre-Health” majors to apply for the BSN program.
Pre-Nursing is discontinued as of Fall 2019. No change of majors will be allowed into Pre-Nursing.

Prerequisite Course Policy
Each prerequisite must be completed with a minimum ‘C’ grade.
Students are allowed one “D” or “F” within the eight prerequisite courses for a repeat grade.
CR/NC grades are NOT accepted (excluding Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate)
The first course taken in each category with a grade of “C” or higher will be counted for admissions.
Online, web-based, or distance learning science and laboratory courses taken at other institutions
must be approved by the School of Nursing.
Application Process
Students are not allowed to apply with courses in progress, excepting summer courses taken through Fresno State.
Students must be a continuing Fresno State Pre-Health student, direct-transfer applicant (fall cycle only), or a second
bachelor applicant to be eligible to apply to the School of Nursing.

Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) Program Requirements (Beginning Fall 2017) 58 Units _
Advising Notes: Students admitted to the BSN program must attend a mandatory orientation prior to enrolling in nursing courses. Courses are cohort-based and may require permission numbers
to enroll. Incoming BSN students will not register for courses during Fall/Spring registration; permission codes are received after attending the BSN orientation.
Nursing Admission Requirements 28-39 Units _
Advising Notes: Fresno State students must be admitted as a Pre-Health major or must be a continuing Pre-Nursing major to be eligible for the BSN program. Non-Fresno State students interested
in applying for the BSN program are only eligible for the Fall cycle. Students who have already completed a bachelor’s degree are eligible for both cycles. Pre-Requisite and Additional Major
Requirements are based on accepted Fresno State courses; equivalent courses are accepted and can be verified prior to admissions by contacting ACDC.

1. Students must maintain the minimum GPA requirements to maintain enrollment in the Pre-Nursing/Pre-Health program. Students who no longer meet minimum requirements may be moved to the undeclared major.
2. A grade of C or higher in all required coursework is necessary for successful completion of the major. Any course required as a prerequisite must be completed with a grade of C or better before registration in subsequent courses
3. CR/NC grading is not permitted in courses for the Nursing major, except in those courses which are designated CR/NC grading only.
4. Students pursuing admission into the BSN program are highly encouraged to complete additional coursework towards a second major, minor, or certificate program. Consult the Fresno State catalog for options.
